Purpose of the rooms
The Commissioner is committed to consulting directly with children and young people and to giving a voice to children and young people to promote their achievements, hopes and concerns.

In support of this commitment the Commissioner’s office has meeting spaces available free of charge to be used for direct consultation and meetings with children and young people.

These meeting spaces can be used by

children and young people accompanied by an approved coordinator

government groups working directly with children and young people
-
approved non-government groups working directly with children and young people.
Bookings may not be made by for-profit organisations or individuals (unless the individual or consultant is contracted by not-for-profit organisations or government departments or agencies, specifically to work with children and young people).

Room details
There are two spaces available, both with disability access.

A large irregular space totalling 86 sqm decorated by children and young people.

All the furniture is removable and able to be stored.

The room can be divided into 2 spaces by a moveable panelled wall suitable for workshops, information consultations and presentations. Each half is equipped with a data and phone connection.

Restrictions

No alcohol is to be served.

No smoking is allowed inside or within 10 metres of the perimeter of the building.

You cannot promote a cause that harms or exploits children or young people.

You must be aware of and engage in child-safe and child-friendly practices.

You must provide the name and a mobile telephone contact number of a Meeting Coordinator who will be attending the event. This person will be the emergency contact in case of a medical or evacuation emergency and The Commissioner's staff will liaise with them on all other issues.
