Our Space consultation and meeting rooms

To book the room fill in the booking request form. A staff member will check your form and contact you to confirm the booking.

Purpose of the rooms

In support of this commitment the Commissioner’s office has meeting spaces available free of charge to be used for direct consultation and meetings with children and young people.

• children and young people accompanied by an approved coordinator
• government groups working directly with children and young people 
• approved non-government groups working directly with children and young people. 

Bookings may not be made by for-profit organisations or individuals (unless the individual or consultant is contracted by not-for-profit organisations or government departments or agencies, specifically to work with children and young people).

Room details

There are two spaces available, both with disability access.

Our Space consultation room

A large irregular space totalling 86 sqm decorated by children and young people.

Equipment provided with the room:

• 4 folding work tables
• 15 stackable chairs
• 10 beanbags
• 5 beanbag ottomans.

All the furniture is removable and able to be stored.

Room capacity:

• 70 people standing or seated theatre style  (theatre-style chairs not provided)
• 30 people seated around a table or tables (tables and seating for 15 provided).

The room can be divided into 2 spaces by a moveable panelled wall suitable for workshops, information consultations and presentations. Each half is equipped with a data and phone connection.

Equipment provided with the room:

• 2 single large meeting tables
• 20 gas lift chairs
• electronic whiteboard.

Tables and chairs are not able to be removed or stored

Room capacity:

• 20 people seated around tables

Room can be divided into 2 equal meeting rooms with separate doors by a moveable panelled wall.

Additional facilities for both rooms

• Male and female toilets and a universal access toilet.
• Kitchenette with small fridge.
• Balcony area (not undercover) accessed by glass sliding door (lockable from the inside).

Hours of availability

The Our Space rooms area available:

• 8.30am – 8.30pm Monday to Friday
• 9.00am – 5.30pm Weekends (including public holidays).

Restrictions

• No alcohol is to be served.
• No smoking is allowed inside or within 10 metres of the perimeter of the building.
• You cannot promote a cause that harms or exploits children or young people.
• You must be aware of and engage in child-safe and child-friendly practices.
• You must provide the name and a mobile telephone contact number of a Meeting Coordinator who will be attending the event. This person will be the emergency contact in case of a medical or evacuation emergency and The Commissioner's staff will liaise with them on all other issues.

Responsibilities of hirer

• Nominate a Meeting Coordinator – the Meeting Coordinator will be provided with detailed instructions on security access and is responsible for security access and lock up as detailed in the Conditions of Use.
• This person will be the point of contact for the Commissioner's staff.
• Cleaning and restoring Our Space rooms to original conditions as detailed in the Conditions of Use.
• Additional costs associated with security repairs, maintenance or cleaning as detailed in the Conditions of Use.
