Millennium Kids Advisory Committee

The Millennium Kids Advisory Committee is a group of young people from the Millennium Kids Youth Board, a WA not-for profit environmental organisation for children and young people.

These young people actively take part in initiatives to help their local environment and use their creativity and problem solving skills to tackle WA’s biggest environmental issues, in order to improve the lives of WA young people.

9 November 2020

The Commissioner attended Millennium Kids' 25 year celebration and project showcase and heard about their projects that have continued this year. The Commissioner was pleased to speak with MK members and offer his support for the great work they are undertaking. Despite the disruptions of 2020, the Commissioner is looking forward to receiving briefings from the MK Youth Board as their work continues in 2021.

15 March 2020

The MK crew visited the Commissioner's office to take part in a planning workshop to brainstorm some project ideas. They shared their experiences of being a MK youth board member and some of the most important skills they had learnt as part of this process.

In light of the emerging developments in response to COVID-19, shortly after the March meeting it was recognised the advisory committee could not operate as per normal for the year. The meetings and activities of the committee adapted to the changing circumstances.

The Commissioner visited Millennium Kids at their youth board meeting to hear about the environmental and sustainability projects they are leading and their ideas for making a difference in their community. The MK crew also discussed some of the big challenges facing young people today and how the living environment impacts on their mental health and wellbeing.
