A new network launched for vulnerable children

Last night I attended the launch of Telethon Kids’ Institute and Minderoo’s CoLab, an initiative which will bring together people and organisations to collaborate on how to better support vulnerable children across Australia.

By getting researchers and service providers in the same room, CoLab’s aim is to translate theory into effective service models.

I was impressed by the project’s vision and was particularly pleased to hear their desire to include children and their families in the process.

Hearing and responding to the views of children and young people is essential in any work to strengthen their wellbeing.

Professor Donna Cross, who is one of my Ambassadors, will sit on CoLab’s Council.

Ms Cross has been a steadfast ally to both my office and to Western Australian children and young people – I look forward seeing CoLab’s progress under her and her colleagues’ watch.
