Consultation with CALD young people

In February 2016 the Commissioner released reports and other resources based on a consultation with children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

The Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) supported a group of CALD young people aged between 18 and 25 years to lead and report on consultations with their peers. This group of consultation peer leaders ran consultation activities with young people up to the age of 18 years in their local community.

In addition, the Commissioner also asked children and young people who are under the age of 18 years and from refugee and migrant backgrounds to have their say in an online survey.

Views contributed via the interviews and the surveys have assisted in gaining rich and valuable information about the issues affecting these children and young people.

Snapshot of findings

Snapshot of findings is a one-page overview of the consultation, including a description of who took part and the major themes raised. It was developed specially to report back to the children and young people that took part, and also provides a good overview for anyone interested in the consultation.
