Consultation with children and young people with autism

The Commissioner consulted with children and young people with autism on the services and supports they receive and what is most helpful to them.

The consultations were conducted by telephone or video link, written submissions or by online survey and covered how children and young people feel about the help they receive, how involved they are in making their own decisions, and their ideas about making life easier for children and young people with autism.

This consultation informed the Commissioner's submission to the Senate Select Committee on Autism about the services, support and life outcomes for people with autism in Australia and the associated need for a National Autism Strategy.

The Commissioner's consultation findings are detailed in the report below.
