Out–of-home care consultation

In 2016, the Commissioner consulted 96 children and young people with experience of out-of-home-care to hear their views on how they raise concerns and access help regarding the issues that affect their lives.

Participants in the consultation were aged from eight to 24 years with a range of out-of-home care placement experiences including foster care, family care and residential care, as well as young people who were now living independently or with a parent.

This project was undertaken by the Commissioner’s office in partnership with CREATE Foundation and the then Department for Child Protection and Family Support.

A report on the consultation’s findings and a report back to the children and young people who participated were released on 18 October 2016.
