Children’s Week Art Awards

The Commissioner has supported the Commissioner’s Choice Art Award as part of Children’s Week celebrations since 2008. Information about Children’s Week is available on the Children’s Week WA website.

Symphony for Perth – Perth Festival 2014

In 2014 the Commissioner supported the involvement of primary and high school students in an innovative musical production titled ‘Between the Desert and the Deep Blue Sea’, which ran as the Perth Festival 2014 finale. The students’ created music based on the sounds that represent Perth to them, which was submitted to Tod Machover, composer and professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab. Tod then crafted a symphony played live by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra on 1 March 2014. Read more about the Symphony for Perth 2014 project.

Children, Young People and the Arts Seminar 2013

Several leading arts practitioners took part in this seminar and they spoke passionately about their innovative projects and how children and young people have influenced productions and the final creative outcome.
