About the position

This position undertakes research, policy analysis and evaluation to enable the Commissioner to advocate for children and young people. Your analytical capability, writing skills and ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders will be used to deliver policies, reports and other written materials to support the Commissioner.

However, this role also represents an opportunity to get involved with a range of exciting initiatives including engaging with young people, representing the interests of children and young people at forums or though professional networks.

 Other responsibilities:

  • Policy review, analysis and evaluation.
  • Well-developed communication (oral and written) and negotiation skills with a proven ability to facilitate stakeholder participation.
  • Well-developed research, conceptual and analytical skills including an ability to interpret and apply legislation and analyse data.
  • Proven ability to identify innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues and problems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issue and trends related to children and young people.

Jacqueline McGowan-Jones is Western Australia's Commissioner for Children and Young People, a vibrant and dynamic leader who brings a wealth of government experience and a passion for the wellbeing of children and young people. 

The team supports the Commissioner to advocate, research, advise, monitor and inquire on behalf of children and young people.
