Youth Choices Film Competition Student Choice Award

The Commissioner for Children and Young People supports the Student Choice Award of the Youth Choices Student Film Competition, run by the Constable Care Foundation.

The Youth Choices Student Film Competition asks students aged 12 to 18 years to create short films that raise awareness of important public safety issues for WA young people. 

The Commissioner's Student Choice Award recognises the most popular film submitted to the film competition, as voted by young people.

2021 Student Choice Award

The 2021 competition's focus was on relationship and family safety and the impacts on young people.

The Student Choice award-winning film, JD Rock 1995 Is Following You, was made by Clarenz Genete from John Forrest Secondary College. The film addresses the topic of being stalked.

Previous award winners


The theme for the 2020 competition was ‘street safety’ and aimed to help raise awareness of how children and young people can stay healthy and safe by knowing how to be street safe.

The Student Choice award-winning film, Prefect, was made by students from Ellenbrook Christian College.
