Commissioner for Children and Young People's Annual Report now available

The Commissioner for Children and Young People’s Annual Report for 2014-15 is now available online.

The report provides an overview of the Commissioner’s priorities and achievements in the past financial year, including a major consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people and the tabling of Edition Two of the State of Western Australia’s Children and Young People.

In the last year the Commissioner:

  • consulted or met with more than 2,900 children and young people around the state
  • made 89 representations, including 27 submissions on issues such as youth justice, children in out-of-home care, disability and mental health
  • established two new Advisory Committees with young people from Wyndham District High School and the Perth-based School of Special Education Needs: Sensory
  • conducted 13 seminars and forums.

In addition to the Annual Report, the Acting Commissioner has released Face to Face, a report on the year specifically for children and young people, outlining what they told the Commissioner and what actions were taken as a result.
