WA Aboriginal leaders share their stories to inspire young people

Aboriginal leaders from across Western Australia have spoken about overcoming challenges and the keys to their success in a new publication produced by the Commissioner for Children and Young People.

Talking Leadership contains the stories, quotes and message of support from thirteen inspiring Aboriginal leaders and demonstrates the breadth of Aboriginal leadership and cross-cultural solutions within Western Australian communities.

“This important publication builds on from what Aboriginal children and young people have told me over the years about the importance of role models and people who they can look up to,” Commissioner Colin Pettit said.

“Talking Leadership contains only a small sample of the many outstanding Aboriginal leaders working together with their communities to make the future brighter for Aboriginal children and young people.

“For young people, these are just a few examples of the future pathways available to them and the qualities - such as passion, dedication and respect - that are required to achieve their goals. I plan to continue to add more leadership profiles to my website as a source of information and inspiration for young people.”
