2011 Thinker in Residence – Paul Collard
Unlocking Creativity was the Commissioner’s inaugural Thinker in Residence program.
The Commissioner welcomed Paul Collard as the Commissioner for Children and Young People's very first Thinker in Residence.
Paul Collard, chief executive of the non-government organisation Creativity, Culture and Education in the United Kingdom, was appointed as the inaugural Thinker.
Paul’s residency ran from Monday 7 to Friday 18 November 2011 and included around 40 events, including a series of workshops with children and young people run by experienced West Australian arts practitioner Paula Hart.
The theme
Mr Collard turned a spotlight on the role of creativity, culture and education in improving the wellbeing of children and young people in Western Australia.
The residency built on work to date in the areas of arts, innovation and education as tools to foster the skills and potential of younger children, and helped boost arts and culture investment and partnerships and contribute to a long-term vision for arts and culture education in WA.
