New Ambassador for Children and Young People appointed2

Dr Casta Tungaraza has been appointed as an Ambassador for Children and Young People. aabbcc

Dr Tungaraza is recognised for her commitment to the prevention and eradication of violence against women and children and has undertaken mentoring and coaching with African young people in Western Australia.

Commissioner for Children and Young People Colin Pettit said that the appointment would help give greater voice to the needs of children and young people from culturally and diverse backgrounds.

“Dr Tungaraza is well respected for her advocacy for women and children from CALD backgrounds, particularly African women and children,” Mr Pettit said.

“I am looking forward to working with Dr Tungaraza to enhance awareness and understanding of factors impacting the wellbeing of children and young people from CALD backgrounds.”

The appointment of Ambassadors for Children and Young People recognises eminent Western Australians who have a significant role in the community and commitment to supporting children and young people and their families.

The Ambassadors work with Commissioner Colin Pettit to increase community awareness and understanding of factors which impact children and young people’s wellbeing. There are currently 13 Ambassadors for Children and Young People.
